The aim of this workshop is to bring together those people interested in probabilistic graphical models and to provide a forum for discussion of the latest research in the field. In order to promote debate among the participants, the number of accepted papers will be limited up to 30-40, and there will be no parallel sessions. We welcome theoretical, algorithmic and practical results related to the following topics:
Bayesian (belief) networks.
Influence diagrams.
Chain graphs.
Exact and approximate propagation algorithms.
Machine learning and data mining.
Relation to other disciplines (as optimisation, search, ...).
Applications to practical problems.
Software.
Any other aspect related to probabilistic graphical models.
Paper registration:
Authors, who have the intention to submit a paper to PGM'02, must submit a notification of submission by filling out the form "Paper registration".
The authors should fill in the title of the paper, the author correspondence information (name, address, phone/fax number, and e-mail address), up to 5 keywords and a short summary (up to 200 words).
Each submission will be assigned an identification number. Please use it on all correspondence with the program committee.
Paper submission:
All papers must be uploaded at the same web address. Please, to upload your paper use the identification number plus your e-mail address in order to have access at the "upload page''. The paper preregistrarion must be done by July 15 2002. The paper must be submitted no later than 12 noon Mountain Time (7PM GMT) on July 31 2002. Papers submitted after that time will not be reviewed. Papers must be in PDF or PS format and the maximum length will be 8 pages, printed single-sided. Additional instructions about the paper format will be found in the file pgm02sub.ps. The program committee will make every attempt to print out your paper successfully, but cannot take responsibility if they do not. Authors are strongly encouraged to submit papers 48 hours before the submission deadline so that unprinting formats can be detected and corrected by the submission deadline. If for some reason an author is not able to submit electronically, please contact to Ismael García-Varea (ivarea@info-ab.uclm.es) concerning hard-copy submission.
Proceedings including all the accepted papers will be
available at the workshop, also on-line electronic proceedings will be available
at this web site. Selected (expanded) papers will be published in an edited
volume (Series: Studies in Fuzziness and Soft Computing; Springer-Verlag)
after the workshop.
Another selection of papers will appear in a special issue of the International
Journal of Uncertainty, Fuzziness and Knowledge-Based Systems.
The official language of the workshop will be English. No simultaneous translation into other languages will be available.
